Jeremy Cash on the mend, will work out at private pro day April 13th

There are polarizing opinions about how well Duke defender Jeremy Cash’s skills translate to the NFL level, opinions that have been left unassisted by workout numbers due to a myriad of injuries suffered by the former Blue Devil throughout the past few months. Cash missed the Pinstripe Bowl after undergoing surgery on his wrist, but returned in time to participate in a limited capacity at the Reese’s Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama at the end of January. Unfortunately it was there that Cash sustained a hamstring injury that would hold him out of action at the NFL Scouting Combine and Duke’s team pro day.

Not to worry however, as Cash told me today that both his hamstring and wrist are doing well, and he is set to hold a private pro day at Duke’s facilities on April 13. Cash plans to run the 40 and do all agility drills and jumps that day for NFL personnel, after which he’ll begin to schedule more private visits with teams.

Many analysts and scouts have questions about whether Cash is a safety or a linebacker in the NFL, and the defender’s workout results should help determine his long-term fit at the next level. Personally, I see Cash as a top-60 prospect that will be at his best closer to the line of scrimmage, either as a 4-3 weakside linebacker or a 3-4 inside linebacker. How he tests at his private workout will help determine the legitimacy of my assessment, as well as many others in the field.
